Dina Masnata Spasciani
Dina Masnata Spasciani was a painter and illustrator from Cagliari.
Born in Cagliari in 1893, during the 1930s she attended the Art School founded by Felice Melis Marini and Giovanni Battista Rossino in the Sardinian capital, devoting herself primarily to the techniques of engraving and etching. Along with Anna Marongiu Pernis, she was among the first female artists to venture into learning a technique that, until then, had always been the exclusive domain of men.
Her work is characterized by a particular focus on rural life and the Sardinian landscape. Part of Dina Masnata Spasciani’s collection of engravings is preserved in the Print Room of the University Library of Cagliari.
